This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service of the VA Boston Healthcare System/ Jamaica Plain Campus. The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the medical center including all clinical and patient care areas involved with the service. Incumbent is a licensed independent practitioner with special clinical program responsibilities. The incumbent at this level plans, conducts and coordinates all aspects of diagnostic evaluations in the treatment of hearing impairment or balance disorders. The incumbent at this grade level demonstrates professional knowledge of and skill in applying a wide range of theories, principles and methodologies in the practice of Audiology to the young adult through geriatric population. The incumbent considers the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of the patients. A more detailed description of the position is available in HR Management Service.
The VA Boston Healthcare System is the largest consolidated facility in VISN 1. It encompasses 3 main campuses and 5 outpatient clinics within a 40-mile radius of the greater Boston area. It is a general medical and surgical facility with both acute and long term care services. VA Boston is a teaching hospital classified as a Level 1A complexity facility, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive healthcare is provided through primary care and long-term care in the areas of polytrauma/TBI, geriatrics, dentistry, extended care, medicine, neurology, oncology, pharmacy, physical medicine, mental health, rehabilitation and surgery.
Work Schedule: Full-Time 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday at the Jamaica Plain Facility
