Seeking one Fee Basis, Hematology/Oncology Physician for the brand new, state-of-the-art Orlando VA Medical Center. Looking for a motivated, flexible, team-oriented provider of patient-centered care.
· Promotes, directs, evaluates and is responsible for the management of safe patient care to oncology and hematology patients.
· Obtain a comprehensive (or otherwise appropriate) health history and perform a physical examination on all patients who present to the Oncology/Hematology clinic or other assigned clinical area.
· Interpret the history and physical, order laboratory tests, radiographic studies, ancillary tests and requested consultations required to further evaluate the patient and arrive at a diagnosis.
· Make sound clinical judgments based on clinical assessments and formulate an individual treatment plan based on the patient's needs.
· Collaborate and consult with other providers for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment plan in complex or unstable patient care situations.
· There are no on-call responsibilities.
· Benefits are not available for this position.
Tour of Duty: Hours may be varied depending on the need of the service. Ex. Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays, etc.
Physical Requirements: Walking (up to 2 hours); Standing (up to 2 hours); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted).
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements.
Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.
Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Medical Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
Licensure. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
Residency Training. Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Board Certification (highly preferred). Board certified or eligible
If board eligible, providers must demonstrate significant accomplishments in clinical practice, educational activities, research or administration which clearly distinguish them as having the highest professional qualifications in the specialty area to which assigned.
Physical Standards. Must pass a pre-employment examination. See below for additional information.
English Language Proficiency. Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into the position.
