Incumbent serves as the coordinator, advisor, analyst, and planner for their assigned production area for prescription mail-out fulfillment. Responsible for the day- to-day technical administration of their assigned operations area and to ensure that their assigned area is fully coordinated with other production areas. Primary responsibility for one of the following areas: Tablet/Capsule Automation (TCA), Unit-of Issue Dispensing, Manual Dispensing, Bulk Dispensing, or Controlled Substance Dispensing. This position requires the candidate to be certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and maintains their national Pharmacy Technician Recertification. Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Physical Requirements: Work may be performed in a highly mechanized warehouse setting around production machinery. Moderate noise and traffic requires attention to safety. Some work areas involve a moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when operating or working around the automated equipment (i.e., accumulators, moving belts, etc.)
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory when handling identified medications as stated in CMOP Standard Operating Procedures. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, involving standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time, lifting/carrying of pharmaceutical supplies weighing up to 50 lbs and bending/stooping/reaching.

PROMOTION POTENTIAL: The full performance level of this position is GS-07.
PTCB Certification: Candidates at the GS-07 level are required to possess a PTCB certification and must submit such certification with your application packet. All individuals applying under this announcement must meet the qualifications for appointment as contained in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G28, Pharmacy Technician Qualifications Standard, GS-0661, Veterans Health Administration.
GS-07 Experience: One year of experience at the next lower level and/or equivalent experience outside the Federal Service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. This is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of experience may include: Provides timely pharmaceutical services to veterans within limits of control; Compiles, categorizes and records workload data for various reports; Responds to inquiries from staff, patients or their agents, and CMOP personnel; Provides requested information utilizing patient and/or dispensing data available.
