Duties of the physician:
Primary duty of the physician is to provide coverage for all inpatients. This position will cover shifts as needed, not to exceed 36 consecutive hours.
Adequate documentation of resident supervision in accordance with VHA policy is required. Timely documentation is necessary in all areas in accordance with departmental policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion. The discharge summary may be dictated, all other inpatient documentation should be entered by the physician into the medical record directly. Prohibited abbreviations should not to be used.
All physicians will work within their privileges at all times, unless necessitated by an emergency.
Duties of the physician may include internal medicine resident supervision and medical student teaching.
Work Schedule: Intermittent work schedules work on an as needed basis. Schedule will include nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements: Placement in this position is subject to meeting the physical requirements of the position. This includes: Walking (up to 2 hours); standing (up to 2 hours); Light and moderate lifting (up to 44 lbs.) light to moderate carrying (up to 44 lbs); straight pulling and pushing, reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and 20/100 in the other; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted).
