Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ART positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Force Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
This is a standing register used to fill potential position at AFRC locations as vacancies occur. Some positions may have promotion potential to a higher grade than the grade being filled. Multiple vacancies may be filled from this announcement. The beginning and ending salaries may vary depending on location of position.
The cut-off date for these positions is the 25th of each month. Therefore, if we receive your application by midnight on the 25th of the month, you are eligible to go on the register the following month.

The primary purpose of this Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position is to serve as an Aircraft Electrician. As such, the incumbent will be involved in installing, troubleshooting, adjusting, testing, modifying, calibrating, and repairing of aircraft electrical systems and equipment on board conventional aircraft; provide training to reservists; and perform the following duties:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (2) May be required to work uncommon tours of duty/overtime. (3) This is a testing designated position (TDP). Incumbent is subject to random drug testing. (4) A background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance. (5) Light to heavy physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 50 pounds, and occasional objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. (6) Climb, stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time and working at heights of up to 65 feet. (7) Have good hearing and active hand eye coordination. (8) Be exposed to prevailing weather conditions, and must work outdoors and indoors. (9) Be exposed to physical hazards of aircraft maintenance including, but not limited to, electrical shock, flight line noise and working during hours of darkness or darkened conditions lighted by means of artificial light. Give examples of the work you performed on the equipment such as assemble; disassemble; install; test; maintain; repair; troubleshoot; calibrate; modify; and design. (ELEMENT F)--Knowledge of Aircraft Electro-Environmental Systems Mechanic Technical Practices--Give examples of your work experience that required inventing new methods to do tasks that could not be done in regular ways. State trade theory or technical principles you are familiar with which must be understood to perform the duties of the position for which you are applying. Give examples of work you have performed which required knowledge and experience in new and up-to-date trade practices. Also, give examples of your work, which required precise timing, accurate dimensions, or precise fit. (ELEMENT I)--Use of Test Equipment or Measuring Devices--List the measuring instruments and/or test equipment that you have used and briefly describe for what purpose you used each.
