As a FISH AND WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Plans and conducts a wide variety of complex investigations to determine the impact of land and water development projects upon the fish and/or wildlife resources of an area.
Gathers, organizes, and interprets biological, ecological, pathological, public use, or other pertinent information to insure management plans are current. Assists with implementation of management plans, studies and investigations required for species propagation/production, resource protection, ecological factors, public information, and other aspects of natural resource management.
Conducts consultations pursuant to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended
Reviews and reports on permit applications for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Suitability for employment, as determined by background investigation.

Only experience and education obtained by 12/13/2024 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
Possess a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR
Possess a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Minimum Qualification [GS-11]
Possess at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing work in the field of, or directly related to fish or wildlife biological science. Qualifying experience includes: (1) conducting investigations of moderate complexity to determine the impact of various land and water development projects upon the fish and wildlife resources of an area; (2) assisting in preparing and reviewing biological implications of environmental assessment/impact statements to evaluate environmental consequences of proposed actions; (3) supporting the development of fish and/or wildlife management plans; and (4) assisting in the consultation process pursuant to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. NOTE: This experience must be clearly reflected in your resume. OR
Possess 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that is directly related to this position. OR
Possess an equivalent combination of professional experience (described in A) and graduate level education beyond the second year (described in B) which together equals 100% of the requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
