Duties

Help
  • Implements management programs impacting the Bureau (e.g., annual and strategic program planning, program budgeting, acquisition planning and administration, mandatory periodic reports to Congress or other external oversight organizations).
  • Participates in the development of policies, issuances, and directives by researching issues in assigned program areas and drafting proposed guidelines and explanatory material.
  • Tracks the accomplishment of goals, objectives and priorities established by statutes, executive orders, the Department, the Under Secretary, or Assistant Secretary.
  • Administers assigned program planning processes, conducting briefings, presentations and conferences for executive management.
  • Represents the Bureau at meetings and conferences as directed.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. 

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience serving in a Staff Assistant or Special Assistant role, with extensive background supporting senior leadership to include Senior Executive principals, managing priority taskers, clearances, and action items. 
  • Experience coordinating across multiple offices, stakeholders, bureaus, agencies, and Bargaining Unit representatives in a fast-paced office environment. 
  • Experience coordinating office communications and preparing papers and reports.
  • Experience monitoring, identifying, and coordinating revisions of policies, operating procedures, and directives while also tracking and prioritizing action items following meetings, discussions, or taskings.

There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
