Summary

This position is located in the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, Office of Chemical and Biological Weapons (AVC/CBW). AVC/CBW serves as the lead office within the department to promote the global ban on chemical weapons as embodied in the chemical convention with efforts to impede and roll back the threat of chemical and biological weapons, dissuade and impede states and entities from pursuing, using and/or proliferate these weapons and related equipment and technology.

Duties

Help
  • Receives all incoming visitors and telephone calls to the Office Director of CBW.
  • Receives and reviews all incoming mail for the AVC/CBW office, establishing controls on certain items.
  • Arranges meetings, including space, time and participants for meetings by the Director of appointments and office staff.
  • Makes all necessary arrangements for travel, arranging schedule of visits, making transportation and hotel reservations, notifying organizations and officials to be visited, and submitting travel vouchers and reports.
  • Reviews correspondence and documents prepared for signature of or requiring coordination for conformance with regulations, grammar, format, and special policies of the organization and the Director’s viewpoints.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.

Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of this position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and compliance with established policy;
  • Experience making travel arrangements and preparing travel vouchers; and
  • Experience screening and handling telephone calls and visitors.

AND

Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm with no more than 3 errors. Note: Individuals may be required to take a typing exam.
