This position is 100% virtual and can be filled in any location; the selected candidate will be expected to work remotely.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

As a/an Equal Employment Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert knowledge of on EEO laws, regulations, court decisions and issues related to the Federal EEO program and other complaints and appeals programs in order to review and analyze discrimination complaint cases that are extremely difficult, controversial, and precedent setting; deal effectively with complaints processing problems.
  • Serve as the primary source of providing agency-based decisions on the merits of EEO complaints.
  • Implement new methods to solve problems where established methods and procedures are not applicable or are unavailable. Knows where or how to gather information; organizes and maintains information or information management systems; identifies issues and deficiencies; and ascribes meaning to adverse actions or information from disparate sources.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience
for this position includes:
-Reviewing Reports of Investigation and preparing legally-sufficient final decisions based on federal regulations, laws, and policies. Preparing reports and briefing supervisors, management and staff on a variety of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) issues.; AND
-Recommending solutions to problems and conflicting issues impacting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).


Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

-Applying Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, regulations, policies, procedures; AND
-Conducting training regarding the interpretation and implementation of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and other nondiscrimination laws.


Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
