This position is being filled under the OPM Government-Wide Direct Hire Authority for Cybersecurity positions for grades GS 12-15. This serves as a public notice for the use of the Direct Hire Authority in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3327 and 3330 and 5 CFR 330. This public notice may be used to fill multiple positions as needed; therefore, applicants must meet the qualifications at the time the applications are reviewed.

The duties and responsibilities for a Supervisory Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist, GS 2210 15 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acts as first-level supervisor to two subordinate supervisors and as second-level supervisor to non-supervisory subordinate IT Specialists.
  • Serves as a senior expert in the field of cybersecurity. Develops and implements agency-wide project management procedures, tools, templates, activities, and infrastructure to align agency internal business practices with government-wide regulations and policies.
  • Manages policies, government standards, and facilitation of training and education for cybersecurity roles throughout OCIO and across DOJ components.
  • Fulfills role of Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Supervisory Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist at (GS-2210-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.

Basic Qualifications for 2210 series: To qualify for the position of Supervisory Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist GS 2210 15, all applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

1) Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail.
2) Customer Service - works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3) Oral Communication - expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4) Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

AND

Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as:

  • Formulating cybersecurity initiatives in response to critical security issues;
  • Performing cybersecurity audits, (e.g. FISMA, A-123 and Financial Statement Audits) on information systems and information security programs; AND
  • Providing authoritative advice and guidance to management on cybersecurity programs (e.g. Risk Management, Vulnerability Management).
