Duties

Help
  • Utilizing law, regulations, procedures, and policies governing Federal equal employment opportunity to implement the provisions of the program.
  • Providing interpreting/translating services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees and visitors.
  • Utilizing English grammar, idiom and pronunciation sufficient to render interpretations using a wide range of technical and non-technical vocabulary.
  • Assessing assignments and resolves conflicting requests for interpreting services.

To qualify for the GS-9 position, you must meet one of the following minimum qualification requirements: Applicants must have one year at GS-7 or equivalent grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as: Utilizes regulations, procedures, and policies governing Federal equal employment opportunity to implement the provisions of the program; Evaluates complaints of discrimination from employees and advises the EEO Officer on merits of complaint; Provides interpreting/translating services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees and visitors; and provides statistical analysis, recurring and special reports.
OR Have successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR Have a combination of graduate education and experience, as described above that meets 100% of the requirements. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 36. Add the two percentages.

Applications will be evaluated in accordance with Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Delegated Examining Procedures and USDA policy using category rating. Applicants who meet basic minimum qualifications will be placed in one of two or three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants eligible for veteran's preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans. Category placement will be determined based on applicants' quality of experience and the extent they possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) or competencies:
