As a Wildlife Biologist your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Participating in the planning, organization, and implementation of biological activities, including habitat manipulation, that affect refuge biological resources;
Preparing reports on progress and completion of activities and recommending improvement that guide future programs that may also affect overall improvements in management practices;
Participating in the development of biological study proposals, survey designs, and scopes-of-work and conducting biological field investigations involving wildlife species and habitats, including population and harvest surveys, biological sampling, population health studies, animal collecting, food habit studies, population modeling, and other wildlife monitoring activities;
Using qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze findings, to include biological data in geographic information systems (GIS); and
Reviewing scientific proposals and reports to evaluate hypotheses, study objectives, research design, appropriateness of methods, probability of success, and overall importance to management or science.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Minimum Qualification [GS-9]
1 year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: planning and executing wildlife surveys to determine population trends, patterns in reproductive success, timing of nesting events, and other demographic parameters of a suite of indicator species; conducting short-term studies that require field data collection, data analysis; and conducting on-site environmental assessments; OR
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a discipline directly related to the position; OR
A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement.
