Duties

Help
  • Provides the review, analysis, and development of highly complex, precedent-setting, and often-controversial policy matters covering a great variety of Federal assistance issues.
  • Oversees activities of the grants management NIFA programs including planning and directing Improper Payment Information Act (IPIA)
  • Reviews trends in the field of grants administration in both public and private sectors.
  • Develops work plans, operating budgets, and priorities and establishes schedules and milestones for the accomplishment and review of work assigned based on organizational requirements

At the GS-14:
Qualifying experience for GS-14 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-13 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing guidance and direction regarding financial systems and internal control to ensure they are in compliance with grant programs; developing policy for grant assistance programs; advising on grants management programs.

At the GS-15:
Qualifying experience for GS-15 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-14 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing financial and oversight expertise to grant programs; implementing legislation, regulations and policies to grants programs; planning and directing grants management programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  • This position reports to NIFA HQ in Kansas City, MO. The primary duty location for this position is 100% remote and will be confirmed at time of selection. The selectee for this position is not required to report to a government office. However, the option to work in NIFA's Kansas City office is available.
  • If you are selected and are willing to relocate to Kansas City, you may qualify for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with agency policy.
