Duties

Help

As a Regional Environmental Compliance Coordinator your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

-Provide technical assistance to Regional and field station personnel regarding complex industrial and domestic waste and pollution problems
-Coordinates the selection of field stations for environmental compliance audits with project leaders, regional supervisors, and other affected entities
-Conducts field station environmental compliance audits. Prepares, consolidates, reviews, and completes environmental compliance audit reports
-Maintains environmental compliance records
-Provides technical advice to Regional and field station personnel regarding the clean-up of releases of hazardous substances to the environment
-Identifies potential environmental liability issues and provides written documentation of findings to management

Minimum Qualification
You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates technical proficiency in all aspects of environmental statutes and regulations, including the application of requirements related to Safe Drinking Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES),and hazardous materials management. Experience conducting field station environmental compliance audits. Ability to oversee the conduct of remedial investigations/feasibility studies, or similar studies to develop contamination clean-up alternatives. Ability to prepare scopes of work and cost estimates for technical studies and environmental management services, and perform Contracting Officer's Representative responsibilities and provide technical review of contractor work. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically,
i. Area of Consideration.
ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502.

- Knowledge of environmental compliance concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a full range of duties to resolve pollution problems associated with solid and hazardous waste operations, domestic and industrial wastewater disposal and water supply operations, solid and hazardous materials and waste operations, air pollution parameters, asbestos, lead, pesticides and other contaminants associated with Service operations, and their associated environmental liabilities
- Experience conducting environmental compliance audits
- Ability to oversee the conduct of remedial investigations/feasibility studies, or similar studies, to determine the nature and extent of contamination, to develop and evaluate remedial alternatives for cleaning up contamination, to develop cost estimates for cleaning up contamination, and to identify a preferred alternative
- Ability to maintain and manage an information management system or database
