Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given you the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the GS-15 Auditor position.
Specialized experience at this level includes:
Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of federal information technology programs and functions,
Analyzing and evaluating the cybersecurity posture of mission critical operations, systems, or management functions,
Serving as a technical advisor responsible for development, formulation or execution of special programs and projects related to audit policies and practices, and;
Leading and/or managing people.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate (IC) for the Supervisory Auditor position has senior level expertise and knowledge in the area of supervising audits for an Office of Inspector General or the equivalent in private sector. Additionally, the IC consistently demonstrates an ability to provide expert leadership and capacity to advise management and senior-level officials in an efficient manner on complicated matters. The IC has experience at managing Audit staff to bring about a high level of work product. The IC has the ability to communicate ideas effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing. The IC works independent of supervision, but also functions in a team atmosphere.
Education
Basic Education Requirements for Performance Auditors:
1. Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications; applicant's resumes and supporting documentation should only reflect education received from schools accredited by such institutions.
