    Summary

    This is an open continuous announcement for immediate RN openings in various departments throughout the Health Care Facility. The first certificate of eligible applicants will be issued on November 23, 2020 with subsequent cut-off dates every 14 days up to September 30, 2021.

    Work Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week, shift work, weekends, days, evenings, nights and holidays.

    Responsibilities

    The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who provides leadership and assumes continuous responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of the patient.

    Intensive Care Unit (ICU): The ICU RN provides leadership and assumes continuous responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of the critically ill patient requiring stabilization and/or resuscitation for a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, including diagnosed or undiagnosed problems of varying complexity.

    Community Living Center (CLC): The CLC RN provides leadership and assumes continuous responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of the chronically ill patient and/or veterans with skilled needs requiring stabilization for a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, including diagnosed or undiagnosed problems of varying complexity.

    Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg): The Med/Surg RN provides leadership and assumes continuous responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of the patient prior to admission for scheduled inpatient and outpatient surgical or invasive procedures. This includes the assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of the patient and the delivery of total care to a full range of medical/surgical patients.

    Ambulatory Care - RN for Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT): This position is integral to veteran care in the PACT model for the Ambulatory Care Service. The RN Care Manager uses the nursing process and evidence-based practice to collaborate with the Teamlet (Patient, Primary Care Provider, RN Care Manager, Clinical Associate and Clerical Associate) and expanded Team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services involved in providing care to the patient) in developing the patient-driven care plan for life.

    Community Care: The RN functions directly to support the activities of the local Office of Community Care (LOCC). The RN is responsible for the planning, integrating, implementing, modifying and evaluating the effectiveness of the Veteran's care. The LOCC foundational elements will serve to support delivery of high quality, timely care to the Veteran receiving services in the community. The RN is the lead of the integrated care team established by the VA Community Care Operating Model. He/she is responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise on community care processes and regulations.

    Acute Care MHU: The Inpatient Mental Health Registered Nurse provides leadership and assumes continuous responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of the mental health patient. This includes theassessment, planning, evaluation and documentation of psychiatric interventions.

    Surgical: The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN, also known as peri-anesthesia nurses or recovery room nurses, who care for patients who are waking up from anesthesia after surgery. They monitor post-operation vital signs, levels of consciousness, and assure patients safely wake from anesthesia. These Registered Nurses provide intensive observation and treatment of patients who have undergone anesthesia.

    Physical Med & Rehabilitation: The RN Care Manager uses the nursing process and evidence-based practice to collaborate with the Teamlet (Patient, Primary Care Provider, RN Care Manager, Clinical Associate and Clerical Associate) and expanded Team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services involved in providing care to the patient) in developing the patient-driven care plan for life.

    Geriatrics: The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) Operations Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse who works under the Geriatrics & Extended Care Service. This includes planning, staffing, data collection and coordination of care at all HBPC sites (currently Reno & Fallon, NV and Auburn & Susanville, CA). Assures care meets all regulatory requirements.

    Medical Service: Special Procedures RN provides leadership and assumes continuous responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of patients pre, intra, and post procedure in cardiac catheterization lab, bronchoscopy, Endoscopy and peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) insertion procedures.

    Mental Health: The Registered Nurse is assigned to the Mental Health Service Line and is accountable to the COS, the Chief of Mental Health, the Deputy Chief of Mental Health and the HCHV Supervisor. This RN is responsible for delivering patient care within the Homeless Program utilizing the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care. The RN demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
