Duties

Help

Duties for Health Information Technology Specialist, GS-2214-14 include but not limited to:

  • Oversee and provide feedback in development of software systems that can be used to test Health Information Technology (HIT) standards.
  • Identify best practices for testing health information technology standards and advise organizational leadership on future use and implementation.
  • Evaluate and test Enterprise Applications Software systems developed using technologies such as, Java Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Wiki, JavaScript, Cloud technologies, etc.
  • Serve as Project Manager and technical lead for the Standards Implementation and Testing Environment (SITE), in charge of all aspects of SITE, including maintenance and expansion of the capabilities.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: You must meet the item listed below (A): Possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined:

1. Attention to Detail: Being thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service: Works with internal and external stakeholders to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication: Expressing information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); making clear and convincing oral presentations; listening to others, attending to nonverbal cues, and responding appropriately.
4. Problem Solving: Identifying problems; determining accuracy and relevance of information; using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and making recommendations.

AND

Specialized Experience: Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that includes all of the following: 1. Serving as a Project Manager or Team Lead of an information Technology team or over a team responsible for organization specific software or databases. 2. Leading efforts that oversee the development of software and databases that test health information technology. 3. Briefing leadership on health information technology systems. 4. Evaluating and testing enterprise application software.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
