Carries out community health plans by conducting visits to homes, communities, schools and clinics to provide patient care

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
AND
License: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they most possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States (Applicants must list their license number on their resume, along with the expiration date, OR submit a copy of their Nursing license that includes the expiration date. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

OR Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing AND two (2) full years of professional nursing experience. Examples of experience include: Utilize the nursing process in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate health needs in providing nursing care to individuals, families and groups including interventions designed to prevent complications and minimize disabilities. Teach and supervise patients and families in techniques of positive health measures.
OR Completion of one (1) full year of graduate education in a professional nursing educational program.
GS-9: Posses a master's degree in professional nursing;
OR One (1) full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) AND possess a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Examples of experience include: Deliver health and nursing care to individuals, families, groups, schools and communities using initiative and judgment in covering a range of nursing services through counseling, teaching and follow-up within established plans, policies and objectives of the agency; and evaluate the effectiveness of the public health nursing program to appraise the quality of nursing services delivered which impacts the health of individuals, families and communities.
