    The Patient Safety Manager has dual reporting responsibility to the Hospital Director and to the Chief, Quality Management. They are responsible for providing leadership, consultation, and oversight regarding patient safety activities throughout the Healthcare System and its continuum of care.

    **This detail is for 90 days and can be terminated or extended pass 90 days.**

    • Assists in development of program objectives and operating procedures and changes thereto.
    • Works independently in prioritizing, planning, and determining methods to accomplish work assignments within the parameters of existing policies, procedures, and operating instructions.
    • Responsible for the articulation of the Patient Safety Program; Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Healthcare Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (HFMEA) and adverse events.
    • Assures effective implementation and education to staff on the Joint Commission Patient Safety Standards.
    • Coordinates day-to-day activities of the Office of Quality, Safety & Value involving patient safety activities. Develops, assists others to develop practice guides and standards for continuous improvement in care.
    • Manages/supervises maintenance of data, records, and correspondence related to the Patient Safety Program.
    • Assumes leadership role and fosters accountability in others for patient safety, professional practice and improvement of patient care.
    • Develops data collection tools, analyzes results, develops and distributes reports related to patient safety.
    • Collaborates with interdisciplinary groups to identify areas for improvement for patient safety issues.
    • Exercises judgment and ingenuity in evaluating health care operating programs and systems with regards to patient safety.
    • Projects and prepares review schedules, conducts reviews, interacts with operating management.
    • Develops strategies to support leadership in proactive planning to improve the patient safety program.
    • Reviews recommendations by all RCA and HFMEA groups and assists leadership in assessing feasibility of these recommendations.
    • Actively involved in evaluating practice for a program or service, based on established professional, community or regulatory standards (i.e. Joint Commission) and recommending/implementing changes to meet those standards.
    • Maintains knowledge of current trends in nursing and health care administration and incorporates current concepts into practice.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm
