As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide professional engineering, technical and programmatic support services, assisting the Energy Program Manager and team to meet the goals and objectives established within the PBS Energy Program for the Region.

Subject matter expert/consultant/authoritative advisor:
- Conduct Mechanical Engineer design reviews for current and future projects in the GSA R9 building portfolio. Ensure specifications, designs, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) load calculations, sequence of operations, and drawings for major renovations and new construction adhere to sound engineering principals, comply with Energy Act and Executive Order guidance, and integrate energy efficient technologies. Provides guidance, training and consultation in resolving design compliance issues.
- Provides Mechanical Engineering technical assistance to GSA R9 facilities. Independently manage energy studies, performance assessments, indoor environment assessments, and commissioning activities. Identifies opportunities for improved operating cost savings and energy efficiency, troubleshoots mechanical systems issues related to building operation and efficiency, and develops projects for funding approval through appropriate channels.
- Serves as an engineering regional resource for support of all phases of performance contracts and financed energy projects. Develops project submissions, analyzes and negotiates energy conservation measures, reviews cost and savings estimates, supports project thru implementation and acceptance, monitors commissioning activities, and reviews annual M&V reports for compliance. Understands energy modeling concepts and reviews modeling by others using DOE-2 based software programs.
