This position is responsible for activities related to the development and management of NLM terminology products and services, providing program oversight and coordination for systems development, quality assurance, and production efforts to provide the US Edition of SNOMED CT, the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS), and related NLM terminology products and services to users. The position coordinates efforts of information technology and subject matter expert team members to provide user support, education, and documentation for NLM terminology products and services and is the point-of-contact to stakeholder organizations, such as government agencies and national and international standards development organizations, coordinating NLM input into and participating on working groups with representatives from these organizations.

Qualifications
In order to meet the basic education requirements, you must have:
A full 4-year course of study that meets all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in the subject-matter field of the position to be filled;
OR
Four years of experience that provided a knowledge of the basic principles, theories, practices, techniques, and terminology of a discipline or subject-matter field; an understanding of the standard methods, procedures, and techniques of research and analysis in the subject-matter field; and where appropriate, ability to read and comprehend nontechnical material in one or more foreign languages. Such experience must have been equivalent to that which would have been gained through a 4-year college curriculum;
OR
A combination of education and experience as described above.
In addition to meeting the basic education requirements:
To qualify at the GS-12 level: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Government, performing the following types of tasks: Modifying standard information practices, precedents and techniques and adapting automated systems to solve a variety of information organization, access, and dissemination problems in a biomedicine, public health, or health services field; Conducting technical evaluation, testing, and quality assurance, and production of health information products and computer applications; Determining, developing, choosing, or controlling applicable vocabulary to efforts where you used one or more of the following biomedical terminologies/health data standards: RxNorm, SNOMED CT, or the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS).
To qualify at the GS-13 level: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Government performing the following types of tasks:Evaluating and providing technical guidance and direction related to biomedical science, health informatics, or health information services and providing technical expertise and authority; Managing systems development, technical evaluation, testing, quality assurance and production of health information products and computer applications; Providing expertise by managing efforts where you used one or more of the following biomedical terminologies/health data standards: RxNorm, SNOMED CT, or the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS).
