  • Directs the production of multimedia websites and applications in a variety of contexts, including public-facing products to support researcher access and online engagement through AmericanArt.si.edu, mobile products destined for use by the public both remotely and in the galleries, and support for SAAM’s intranet platform.
  • Participates in the research, analysis, and conceptual development of new or improved digital content, design, or services.
  • Coordinates with museum staff to ensure that products are developed according to established standards, and that the timing and production demands of each project are quantified and met.
  • Manages permanent and temporary staff of both federal and trust employees as well as interns.
  • Participates in the research, analysis, and conceptual development of new or improved digital content, design, or services.
  • Establishes and/or maintains project plans and product roadmaps for digital products.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system.  For this position Specialized experience is defined as developing complex multimedia websites, managing digital User Experience (UX), and web analytics.

  4. Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above. The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria:

  • Skill in the front-end development of complex, interactive, media-rich public websites and digital products, including technologies such as CMS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related tools and programming languages.
  • Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative user-centered research techniques and best practices for application development on a variety of screen sizes and device types, both fixed and mobile.
  • Ability to coordinate technical and creative processes in an educational, museum, nonprofit, or other type of learning-driven environment, and to effectively plan, communicate, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead the planning, strategy, organization, launch, and maintenance of various digital products, creating and implementing content strategies for multiple audiences while employing best practices for user experience, findability, and access.
