    This position is located in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute on Aging (NIA), Intramural Research Program (IRP), located in Baltimore, Maryland. The chemist undertakes complex research, formulating systematic approaches to complex problems in the field chemistry/biochemistry, specifically with the development and validation of assays for novel and known lipid autacoids.

    • Identify, define, and select specific problems for study.
    • Formulate hypotheses and develop and carry out the chemical studies.
    • Perform a key role in resolving issues that significantly affect scientific programs.
    • Extend and modify approaches, precedents, and methods to solve a variety of chemical problems with unprecedented and obscure aspects.
    • Perform a full range of chemical analyses and tests in support of the laboratory.
    • Analyze, identify, and test various substances requiring development of laboratory tests or analytical methods using various instruments.
    • Recognize and resolve significant issues and keeps supervisor apprised of progress.
