This position serves as a Chief, Public Information and Liaison Branch (PILB), and reports to the Director, Office of Science Policy and Communications (OSPC), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). As an active member of the PILB staff and leadership team, you will provide authoritative and expert advice to senior Institute staff and executives and makes significant contributions to the development and execution of communication and outreach strategies and activities at NIDA.
Summary

Collaborate with researchers and medical professional to interpret the results of research and other technical information for presentation to the public.
Identify information gaps/needs and communication opportunities in support of nationwide publication projects.
Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication plans to identify possible improvements and solutions to potential problems.
Utilize social media tools and techniques to increase marketing/outreach efforts.
Write briefing materials for dissemination to national audiences.
Plan, assign and review work of staff, sets priorities, deadlines, and goals to align with Institute and leadership directions.
U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: directing the planning and implementation of national information/education/outreach programs that support and promote an organization's goals, research, and programs; managing the development of media products and media campaigns to improve health and wellness; writing or directing writing of news releases, feature stories, and other documents to accurately and effectively communicate complex scientific information to national audiences.
