Help

Assess patient condition based upon observation, examination and/or interview, physician's diagnosis, laboratory findings, age-related issues and other pertinent information.
Prepare, prioritize and execute patient care plan consistent with patient assessment data and physician's treatment plans along with professional standards of evidence based practice/care.
Prioritize data collection based upon patient's immediate condition or needs within timeframes specified by the unit's policies, procedures or protocols.
Perform ongoing assessments as determined by the patient's condition, administering intravenous fluids/medications, changes dressings, monitor vital signs, etc.
Provide individualized patient/family education customized to the patient and his/her family.
Respond to life-saving situations, using nursing standard protocols for treatment as well as order diagnostic tests as needed.
Act as patient advocate and collaborate with fellow members of the medical care team.
Initiate emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation protocols.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
This position requires the incumbent to complete a Childcare Background Check (CNACI) security investigation.
This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons.
This position requires you to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical examination.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Civilian Employee Drug-Free Workplace Program as a testing designated position (TDP). You are required to pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
This position has been designated as Mission Essential and the incumbent must assume essential personnel status during inclement weather/emergencies.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical):

Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Experience: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; OR at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level); which includes: providing professional nursing care to patients within an inpatient Medical/Surgical Unit (i.e. patients with acute illnesses, post-operative patients); conducting ongoing patient assessments; developing individualized patient care plans; documenting patient assessment findings /progress into electronic medical records AND possession of a diploma, bachelor's degree or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.
