Summary

Join the Office of Communications and Public Liaison which is responsible for all communication activities for NCCIH. These activities include, but are not limited to communications program planning; health education and health promotion; public inquiries; implementing communication plans for the Center, etc. This office also advises the Center's senior management on communication regarding issues that may affect the Center's initiatives, programs, and reputation.

Duties

Help
  • Developing and conducting a comprehensive communications program for NCCIH.
  • Responding to inquiries from health professionals, the general public, industry, health advocacy organizations, Congress, and the media.
  • Collaborating with other components of NIH and DHHS, as well as other federal agencies, to disseminate research and health information.
  • Designing and implementing marketing/outreach efforts, such as media products, health campaigns, and health education materials for a variety of audiences.
  • Providing communication expertise to NCCIH staff.
  • Maintaining liaison with public and patient advocacy groups.
  • Managing and developing NCCIH website and social media functions.
  • Maintaining liaison with the NIH Associate Director for Communications.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: directing the planning and implementation of national information/education/outreach programs that support and promote an organization's goals, research, and programs; planning, directing, and managing the development of media products and media campaigns to improve health and wellness; handling media inquiries, initiating media contacts when appropriate, and promoting appropriate media coverage; directing and managing activities surrounding an integrated biomedical information services contract; and developing a strategic communications plan for an Institute/Center that identifies and prioritizes communications needs, processes specific strategies for addressing those needs, and assesses the costs of different strategies and the resources available.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
