Duties

Help
  • Develop and execute communications plans for the NCI Divisions, Offices, and Centers (DOCs) and enterprise-level communications programs to support the communications needs of NCI.
  • Work with OCPL staff to share information, collaborate on ideas, identify and adjust priorities and strategies, distribute workload and assignments, and manage projects, assignments, and work activities.
  • Serve as a strategist and project manager to coordinate clinical trials and program launches and scientific report releases.
  • Serve as the principal advisor to NCI DOCs to resolve matters that may be controversial or complicated, and coordinate high level, collaborative projects with internal and/or external organizations to meet broad Institute goals.
  • Manage Federal contracts involving private sector companies and organizations that provide communications support to OCPL and the NCI DOCs.
  • Represent the OCPL/OD on NCI and NIH working groups and committees, and on committees with external stakeholders, as needed; and work closely with other OCPL offices and branches to advance the OCPL and NCI mission.

Qualifications

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: developing materials to educate target audiences on specific public health issues; coordinating program launches, scientific report releases, and media support with communications and scientific staff; facilitating communications workgroups and committees; and, developing health program communications plans or strategies for an activity or workgroup.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
