Summary

The Office of the Director (OD), Office of Science Policy (OSP) is looking to fill a Supervisory Health Science Policy analyst position to serve as the Director of the Science Policy Coordination, Collaboration & Reporting Division. In addition, the incumbent will also serve as a senior advisor to the Associate Director for Science Policy providing development, planning, analysis, and management over a range of science policy issues across the spectrum of biomedical research.

Duties

Help
  • Providing advice and leadership in working with members of the organization and senior leadership of NIH, DHHS, and Offices.
  • Advising staff and leadership in the development of science policy of significance to the agency and the biomedical research community.
  • Identifying and providing insight into emerging trends and issues in biomedical research and their implications for the further development of NIH programs and policies.
  • Planning and assigning work to staff based on management priorities, employee capabilities, and schedules.
  • Developing performance standards and evaluating work performance while aslo identifying developmental and training needs for the agency.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:

Possess a degree in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

AND

Have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Evaluating the effectiveness of biomedical science programs or policies; providing science policy advice relevant to the further development of the organization, its programs and policies; writing reports on research opportunities and accomplishments in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
