Duties

Help

  • Coordinate care of sexual assault victims with personnel from the Emergency Room, OB/GYN, Family Practice, Branch Medical Clinics and other specialty clinics.
  • Conduct sexual assault forensic examinations per the DoD, Department of Justice and BUMED guidelines in addition to American Medical Association and American Nursing Association guidelines.
  • Attend the monthly Sexual Assault Case Management meeting as the medical department representative to ensure all clinically indicated health services, including appropriate follow up care through the primary care manager or TRICARE network have been offered to sexual assault victims.
  • Provide information and advice for medical personnel relating to sexual assault health care, fact and expert witnessing as a health care provider, and pertinent medico-legal issues related to case questions.
  • Ensure that training program objectives within the healthcare facility are being met.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • You must be a current registered nurse (RN) and have a license in the United States.
  • You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.

Qualifications

GS-11

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate to have successfully completed a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing program AND I have at least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector administering a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) healthcare program (e.g. providing services to victims of sexual assault, ensuring the accurate collection of forensic evidence, and developing and monitoring procedures).

OR

Have successfully completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate to have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector administering a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) healthcare program (e.g. providing services to victims of sexual assault, ensuring the accurate collection of forensic evidence, and developing and monitoring procedures) and supervising the work of Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence (SAFE) Examiners.

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

A. I have successfully completed a graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools). AND I have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. AND I possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

B. I have successfully completed a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by this position. Areas of specialties for positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia, Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery, Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology, Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Occupational Health, Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the position. AND I have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. AND I possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND I am licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by this position.
