Duties

Help

As a SUPERVISORY PUBLIC PROGRAMS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Manages the assigned programs and their administration by providing consultation and technical leadership to subordinate staff on assigned day-to-day program administration responsibility.
  • Plans, schedules, and conducts a variety of formal and informal public programs.
  • Public Programs may include an individual event or a series of events on subject matter suitable to the mission of the Kennedy Library, e.g. lectures, films, panel discussions, debates, performances, or other presentations.
  • Oversees staff training on customer service and ensures and sustains the highest level of customer service to all special event guests.
  • Incumbent works with a wide range of experts and program providers to conceptualize and then obtain the participants, resources, venues, audiences, and on-going program evaluation required for program success.
  • Monitors visitor satisfaction and supervises the Library's response and reaction to visitor complaints and commendations.
  • Coordinates and expands the Library's volunteer program.
  • Manages the content of the visitor services and facility rentals portion of the Library's website.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to develop and organize programs of historical interest to various civic and community groups, professional organizations, and the general public; maintain overall responsibility for the operation of the outreach program including implementing regulations governing use of government buildings and grounds, verbally and in writing, as they apply to facility use; contact public school officials, historical societies, civic, professional, and a variety of other similar groups to determine potential areas of interest within the Library's archives, museum, and/or educational programs with the intent to make connections between the groups and the Library's missions and goals.
