Duties

Help
  • Monitor, coordinate, analyze and evaluate complex and law enforcement sensitive data from criminal investigations and operations (i.e. product substitution, terrorism, tech transfer, major theft, e-business, environmental, kickbacks, and healthcare).
  • Analyze, review, and compile criminal investigative data to discern trends or pertinent investigative case characteristics.
  • Research information systems, commercial and legal publications, and other law enforcement and compliance database systems.
  • Prepare data trend analysis and/or abnormality reports for dissemination to organizational components, management and field activities.
  • Provide advice and guidance to field agents concerning investigative data and trends.
  • Collaborate with analysts and criminal investigative analysts from other organizations to share information and investigative data analysis strategies.
  • Assist agents in subject and witness interviews, prosecution preparation, and meetings with outside agencies.

  • Position has been designated as Critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with Department of Defense (DoD OIG).
  • Organizational entities with the DoD are not required to conduct drug testing for DoD civilian employees moving by transfer or reassignment from one DoD Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another TDP with no break in service within the DoD,
  • unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis by the gaining Component.
  • If you have not previously successfully completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
  • Permanent Change of Duty (PCS-Relocation) expenses WILL NOT be paid.
  • Relocation expenses WILL NOT be authorized.
  • Position(s) may be filled by displaced Department of Defense (DoD) employees through the Priority Placement Program.

Qualifications

GS-11
Minimum Qualifications:
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level.

Specialized experience is defined as: experience that demonstrates competence in supporting criminal investigative activities. This experience is work experience which includes analyzing and discerning data obtained from criminal investigations involving allegations of public corruption, product substitution, procurement fraud, tech transfer, major theft, e-business, environmental, kickbacks, healthcare, and other related investigations.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Qualifying Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., related in a field of study that demonstrates the competencies required by this position with a related degree. OR

A combination of the specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. (Having some specialized experience, but less than one year, and more than two years but less than three years of education as described in above. Total must be 100%).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specialized in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
