As a Motion Picture Preservation Technician, you will perform duties associated with preserving motion pictures, film inspection, digitizing original archival motion picture holdings, managing digital surrogates and derivatives, creating technical and administrative metadata, and producing physical media copies.

As a Motion Picture Preservation Technician, typical work assignments include:
Qualifications by Closing Date: You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Please note that qualifications will be subject to verification.
GS-07 - Candidates must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include: a knowledge of various methods and techniques used in preserving, inspecting and digitizing motion picture film; a knowledge of various motion picture, video and audio files to produce high-quality products in a timely manner; using digital and audio video techniques, such as digital audio and image capture through the use of original media playback devices and/or Analog to Digital converters; digital audio and video processing and correction using a variety of software applications and analog devices; quality control procedures relating to digital audio and video, technical/administrative metadata and hardcopy output.
