Physical Demands: The work is sedentary but is frequently interspersed with periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and work in confined spaces. Work is generally accomplished in a high traffic setting with several people requiring assistance at the same time, phones ringing, visitors coming and going, heavy workloads, irate visitors, etc. The ability to function effectively in such a setting with poise and professionalism is critical in this position. Occasional travel to either in state or out of state meeting or training is required.
Work Environment: The incumbent’s work area is located in an open office space with adjoining cubicles, a small office or a warehouse. There are frequent interruptions by visitors, Bureau Personnel, and incoming phone calls.
This is an open continuous announcement for Contact Representative within the Nevada State Office. Recruitment will continue through the closing date to fill positions as they become vacant. Serves as a contact representative responsible for the dissemination of factual information to the public on the BLM’s multiple resource management programs and services.
Responds to a variety of complex inquiries concerning such matters as; land status and ownership, land sales, timber sales, mining claims, oil and gas leases, rights of way, and/or grazing permits.
Conducts research necessary to respond to written or in-person inquiries. Researches legal documents and prepares written responses. Coordinates and assembles materials for education and information programs. Performs records maintenance and tracks serialized case files. Responsible for the selling of documents, maps, books and permits and the reconciliation of funds collected.
This position is covered under the Clerical and Administrative Support Positions Group Qualifications Standard.
