Serves as the Management and Program Analyst for the Federal Aviation administration, Office of the Administrator. He/she is the primary advisor to the Supervisory Management and Program Analyst and the secondary advisor to the Manager of Administrative Operations and the Executive Secretariat regarding the Administrator's Correspondence Program for the Federal Aviation Administration.Learn more about this agency
Performs multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. This includes all aspects of the correspondence program, i.e. policies, processing, and oversight.
Applies experience and advanced knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Demonstrates a knowledge of internal organizational relationships, as well as relationships with the White House, other Federal departments and agencies, congressional offices, and aviation related organizations. He/she is responsible for the identification, routing, controlling, coordination, editing, and dispatching correspondence addressed to, signed by, or of current or potential interest to the Administrator and the Deputy Administrator. This includes congressional inquiries, correspondence referred from the White House, the Secretary of Transportation, and correspondence from private industry and the general public with varying levels of interest.
As part of the Administrator's Correspondence Program, he/she also reviews all correspondence reviewed by the Associate and Assistant Administrators before it goes to the Administrator for signature. The Executive Secretariat Office functions as the Office of the Administrator's Agency-wide coordination and communications mechanism for written correspondence. It is the authoritative channel for official written communications between FAA and the Secretary of Transportation, Congress, and the White House.
At the request of the Supervisor, he/she independently prepares written responses to queries from the general public and other Federal agencies based on research and personal knowledge of FAA policies, programs, and activities. Prepares a variety of briefing documents and reports. Conducts an ongoing analysis of the Administrator's
Correspondence Program to make recommendations of required changes to ensure all aspects of the program is functioning Agency-wide, both at the headquarters and the regions around the United States. He/she must maintain a close relationship with contacts within each line of business, the Department of Transportation, Congress, and the White House.
Demonstrates considerable independence in planning time and helping a manager, project/program manager, and/or team leader to plan and use assigned resources to accomplish projects/programs/activities.
As part of the Administrator's Correspondence Program, he/she is responsible for assisting in the training and indoctrination of subordinate Management and Program
Analysts within the lines of business. He/she assists in establishing standard operating procedures for the Correspondence Analysis Team by regularly reviewing current procedures suggesting and writing new guidelines for inclusion in the SOP document.
Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/ program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.
Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.
