WHAT DOES A FRAUD DETECTION ANALYST DO? As a Fraud Detection Analyst, you will serve as an expert CI Cyber Crimes analyst, responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating activities relating to all programs assigned to the Cyber Crimes Section. You will serve as a technical expert and advisor to management on the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned program operations that are complex in nature and involve multiple areas and emerging issues involving cryptocurrency, the dark web, and financial cyber-related crimes.

As a Fraud Detection Analyst, you will:

  • Make recommendations that significantly influence the development or modification of nationwide Cyber Crimes policies and programs dealing with Virtual/Cryptocurrency;
  • Participate with the design and development of new fraud detection workflow processes and applications;
  • Coordinate and participate in functional and cross-functional research studies involving analysis of technical data to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the Cyber Crime section and Service-wide fraud strategies;
  • Prepare and disseminate program and project directives, policy statements and memoranda nationally, and develop technical and procedural guidelines for publication;
  • Make recommendations for national technical training, prepare curricula, participate in writing and reviewing training materials, and serve as an instructor;
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the CI Cyber Crimes operations in accomplishing its mission;
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) as it relates to Virtual/Cryptocurrency;
  • Prepare and coordinate written responses on the assigned program areas.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

GS-14 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience applying research and analytics around virtual currency, cryptocurrency, different blockchain platforms, the dark web and open source intelligence; Managing assigned cybercrimes-related program operations and procedures; Analyzing policy questions in the investigation/compliance area; Using automated and data analytics systems to research and identify cybercrimes-related violations and schemes, and/or trends; Incorporating use of investigative and analytical skills to independently and accurately analyze problems and initiate required corrective actions; Developing and implementing significant support strategies; Developing systems and/or workflow processes that address immediate threats and emerging cyber issues; Independently establishing priorities and identifying meaningful objectives; Establishing timeframes to complete assignments timely; Exhibiting extensive oral and written communication skills sufficient to present and explain program objectives internally and externally to various audiences and/or impacted parties.

- The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.
