Pathways Internship Program:
This program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed.  The position must be related to the student’s academic field of study or the student’s career interests.  Additional information about the Internship Program can be found at: USAJOBS Information Sheet.

Help

At the entry level of this position, you will:

- Prepare routine correspondence for attorney's signature.
 
- Compile/maintain data base on penalty assessments under various statutes and prepare a report of relevant judgments and settlements.
 
- Type and edit legal documents and prepare in the proper format with correct legal citations, ensuring grammatical and typographical accuracy.
 
- Assemble and/or summarize information from files and legal documents on basis of general instructions as to the nature of the information needed and its purpose.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.

If you are selected, the entire period served under the Internship Program will be a trial period.

This position is designated as Low Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

If you are selected, a written participant agreement must be signed.

You must be age 16 or older.

Qualifications

In addition to the eligibility requirements for the Pathways Internship Program, Pathways Interns qualify for an initial appointment based on their educational achievements as described below:  

To qualify for the GS-05 level, you need to have completed four academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

As part of the application process, you are required to submit college transcripts or a list of courses as described in the Required Documents section of this announcement.  However, if you are selected, you must provide official educational transcripts before you start work with EPA. If you are graduating from your present course of study at the end of the current semester/quarter, to be eligible for this program you must be continuing your education next semester/quarter and be accepted for enrollment seeking a diploma, certificate, bachelor’s degree, graduate degree, or professional degree from a qualifying educational institution on a full- or half-time basis.

Position has portable work and selectee may be authorized to telework after meeting eligibility requirements if approved by the supervisor/manager.

If you are selected, travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid by EPA.  Any travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting to work in this position will be your responsibility.
