Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-7 level you must have:
A. At least one year of specialized IT experience that provided you with knowledge of, and skill in applying, basic IT principles and practices. This could include: (1) performing structured, entry-level work designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill in the IT field; (2) communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing; and (3) gathering and analyzing basic facts to provide information and assistance with IT solutions. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service.

B. Successfully completed a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks from an accredited college or university. In addition, you must meet one or more of the following Superior Academic Achievement criteria: (1) class standing (upper third in graduating class); (2) grade-point average (2.95 overall or over the last two years of study -or- 3.45 in major field or over the last two years in required courses for major); or (3) election to membership in a national scholastic honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

C. Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours or equivalent) in courses such as computer science, information science, information system management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or technology management, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
To qualify at the GS-9 level you must have:
A. At least one full year of specialized IT experience completing routine project assignments requiring knowledge of structured computer techniques. This could include: (1) analyzing the issues in an assignment, then selecting and applying accepted IT techniques to meet customer requirements; (2) planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; (3) installing, configuring, upgrading, and/or troubleshooting hardware or software components; and/or (4) providing technical support or assistance to customers with IT problems. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service.

B. Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a master's or equivalent graduate degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
To qualify at the GS-11 level you must have:
A. At least one full year of specialized IT experience assisting in the installation, operation, and/or maintenance of IT systems. This could include: (1) performing routine and recurring assignments or well-defined projects that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques; (2) adapting guidelines or precedents to the needs of the assignment/project; (3) identifying and resolving issues and problems relating to network configuration, systems services, or other IT matters; and/or (4) reporting, responding to, and resolving customer IT requests. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service.

B. Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
