Duties

Help

  1. Performs the full range of tasks for assigned areas such as assignment, enlistment, reenlistment, promotion, awards, performance evaluation, routine boards, separation, or similar actions and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for actions.
  2. Serves as a technical authority on all elements of active duty military personnel specialties and reviews reports, forms, documentation, and other related information concerning Air Force members and reviews/constructs/maintains military personnel records on all assigned areas.
  3. Serves as the primary source of information regarding a wide variety of entitlement, allowance, and indebtedness actions and processes actions through military personnel data systems.
  4. Reviews products to identify and correct mismatched data in system and to ensure projections and confirmations have consummated and required actions have been taken in the Personnel Data System.
  5. Uses a variety of office automation hardware, software, and peripherals to perform miscellaneous administrative duties, special actions and other clerical support work pertaining to assigned area of military personnel.

  • This position may require travel. This position may require travel around the base and occasionally off base, the incumbent must have some degree of independent mobility.
  • Travel by military or commercial aircraft may be required for TDY, training, conferences, etc. Such travel will be in accordance with the provisions of the JTR.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 5 days per year.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in applying military personnel regulations to review records and determine eligibility across actions including assignments, enlistments, reenlistments, promotions, evaluations, boards, separations, and member entitlements. Experience also includes utilizing military personnel data systems and office automation tools to enter, reconcile, and correct transaction data, produce administrative documents, and communicate effectively with military and civilian personnel across all command levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of, and skill in applying, an extensive body of military personnel regulations and procedures relating to transactions processed.
  • Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters.
  • Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
  • Skills entering and retrieving personnel action data, and correcting data errors in data systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with significant ability to deal effectively and tactfully with civilian/military personnel of all ranks and at all command levels.
  • Ability to interpret and apply moderately complex directives pertaining to the area of responsibility.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NK-02 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-07.
