Duties

Help
  • Conducts daily shift change, exchanging current and relevant information with the out-going shift;inventories and signs for sensitive and classified SECRET equipment/items maintained in the UCC.
  • During shift operations the incumbent is responsible for the receipt of, editing, and taking appropriate actions on incidents covered in the Division Commanders Critical Information Requirements (CCIR).
  • Incumbent must interface with and be capable of articulating specific message requirements to the 11th Airborne Division/United States Army Alaska, Command group and staff.
  • Follows established procedures for receipt, authentication, interpretation, and dissemination of time sensitive, classified SECRET "FLASH" precedence coded Joint Chiefs of Staff Emergency Action Messages (EAMs).

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Works in rotating shifts and is required to work weekends, holidays, and nights, based upon mission requirements; shift work necessary to cover 24 hour 7 days per week operation; occasional overtime may be required.
  • The incumbent of this position is subject to a four week intense detailed training session with the supervisor. This training is an initial up to date detailed Emergency Action program training and certification program.
  • Requires continued education and training to maintain proficiency and knowledge of applicable regulations/directives
  • Must have acute hearing and ability to speak clearly to communicate effectively and moderate lifting up to forty (40) pounds.
  • Required to maintain proficiency as a Division G-3 action officer and Emergency Management Specialist.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Designated Key Position: A Key position is defined as any Army position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of their organization to function effectively.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or expereince requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in managing components of emergency management program(s) and/or activities during an emergency response such as; home station operations planning and execution. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Emergency Management, Fire Safety, Public Safety .

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
