As a Document Imaging Technician at the GS-0303-5, you will be part of Retirement Services, Office of Personnel Management. The incumbent serves as a Document Imaging Technician responsible for performing the full range of records retrieval, document preparation, and document imaging operations required to convert paper retirement case files and supporting records into high-quality digital images for storage in the agency's electronic filing system/repository.

Duties

Help
  • Retrieves retirement case records and individual documents from physical filing systems, including multi-tiered shelving units that require the use of ladders.
  • Prepares retirement case documents and supporting materials for scanning and electronic storage
  • Organizes prepared document batches into a sequenced scanning queue for processing.
  • Reviews completed scanned images to verify that digital files meet agency quality standards.
  • Returns processed files to their designated storage locations and updates tracking logs accordingly.

Qualifications

For the GS 5: You must have at least One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate all of the following:

  1. Locating and retrieving physical records, files, or documents from a filing system using numeric identifiers, case numbers, or classification schemes; AND
  2. Preparing paper documents for processing or digitization; checking documents for legibility and completeness; AND
  3. Reviewing scanned images or document copies against quality standards; AND
  4. Entering data into an electronic filing system or database.

Education

Four (4) years of successfully completed education above high school in an accredited institution.

Combination of Education and Experience

A combination of qualifying post-high-school education and specialized experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirement. The combined education and experience must equal at least 100 percent of the requirement, with the experience being directly related to the duties described under A. Specialized Experience.

This is a Term Appointment that will last up to 2 years and may be extended up to a total of 4 years. This position will terminate at the end of the term appointment and will not be converted to a permanent position.
