This position is open to: Area I - Permanent (Tenure 1/2) T32 technicians of the MT Air National Guard (MTANG), Area II - Indefinite (Tenure 3) MTANG T32 technicians & MTANG T5 permanent (Tenure 1/2) or term (Tenure 3) employees that are military members of the MTANG, Area III - military members of the MTANG or T5 temporary (Tenure 0) employees of the MTANG that are also military members of the MTANG, & Area IV - Individuals willing & eligible to join the MTANG.
Manages and directs the Air Support Operations Group and provides managerial oversight of multiple ASOS and TACP squadrons that are geographically separated. Incumbent's duties require developing long and short range plans that are based on worldwide external trends and events, and implement these changes to the organization, group and multiple squadrons, in order to meet these evolving changes and expectations. Incumbent is required to perform duties of a complex administrative nature as it impacts CDRUSCENTCOM, MAJCOMs and operational Coalition Forces. Duties and activities performed support USCENTCOM's mission of the command and control of all Theater Air Control System (TACS) units operating in theater and other MAJCOMs when deployed. Incumbent ensures that each subordinate squadron carries out the guidance of the ASOG and directions from the Joint or Coalition Operations Center who report to the Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC). Each ASOS/TACP is managed through separate subordinate supervisors to include development, assignment, and higher level clearance of goals and objectives for supervisors of subordinate units. Approves multiyear and longer range work plans developed by the supervisors of subordinate units (ASOS/TACP) and subsequently manages the overall work to enhance achievement of the goals and objectives for the work directed. Plans and coordinates short and long term budgetary requirements with USAF and ANG MAJCOM functional managers. Prepares and maintains deployment and mission execution plans in accordance with higher headquarters plans, programs and policies.
Exercises delegated authority to oversee the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of two ASOS and fourteen TACP Squadron operational programs that are regionally separated. Responsible for the development and/or implementation of current and long range organizational plans that support the vision and goals of the ASOG/ASOS/TACP ANG community. Incumbent must analyze interrelated, substantive issues that because of the constant changing world events require the incumbent to consider and evaluate changes to the operational and long range program goals and objectives ASOG and Squadrons. Ensures funds, equipment, manpower and facilities are properly resourced and utilized to meet the mission objectives and requirements. Incumbent is required to coordinate with USAF, NGB, and state staff for mission content and to insure synergy with state and national level objectives. Incumbent meets with MAJCOM Commanders and NGB Directorate leadership to give advice on policies and procedures as they pertain to the ANG ASOS and TACP Squadron community.
Incumbent exercises direct authority for the readiness and implementation of ASOS/TACP weapon systems and all activities at the operational level of war readiness. Required to attend conferences which include joint forces and coalition nations to determine operational support requirements and coordinates policy and the implementation of MAJCOM and Group plans, programs, and policies relating to the integration and employment of assigned resources in carrying out the mission.
Incumbent duties require frequent contact with leadership in Air Combat Command (ACC), United States Air Force, Europe (USAFE), Pacific Air Force (PACAF), Central Command (CENTCOM), NGB and state headquarters, as well as local civilian and political leaders. Incumbent works with Public Affairs, local newspapers, the Governor's office in several states and the US Congressman's office on press releases regarding the group and squadrons. Incumbent is an active member of professional organizations, to include the Weapon System Council and the Air Directorate Field Advisory Council (ADFAC), in order to make policy recommendations to the ANG Director on areas that may affect all Air Guard units. Incumbent facilitates interviews with local and national level media (i.e., Air Force Times). Works with union leadership on local union matters.
Determines unit goals that are the foundation for long and short range planning and execution of all internal programs and provides the focus for all functions and activities in the group. Ensures goals are in consonance with higher headquarters direction and local limitations.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of the assignment, and the capabilities of employees. Provides employees with advice, counsel or instruction on both work and administrative matters.
Incumbent actively helps NGB shape the force to meet changing needs of the Air Force by participating on Integrated Process Teams (IPT) at NGB, tailoring force structure for the future.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Must have experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
