This position is an unpaid internship working with the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division. The interns major duties are below:

Small Claims Mediation Program Intern
  • Assist the Program manager with supportive asks associated with the mediation case management process.
  • Observe various roles for operating and administering a court based mediation program.
  • Observe and learn about the mediation process.
  • Assist with the Mediation information sheet and its distribution by email to associated mediators.
  • Position is flexible to focus the duties to meet the interests and goals of the intern.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to intern in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • The selected candidate must undergo a background check and security investigation.
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time or part-time undergraduate student.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Enrolled or formally accepted for enrollment as a full-time or part-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university.
  • Students majoring in Law, Court Administration, Conflict Resolution or related fields.
  • The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts' values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Fairness, Integrity, Respect and Transparency.

Education
