Duties

Help

  • Installs, inspects, and performs modifications and repairs to electrical power support systems such as electrical power plants and power distribution equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on electrical power support systems.
  • Performs major repair, replacement, and overhaul of power support system components such as diesel, multi fuel, or gas turbine engines, and electrical accessories of engines.
  • Troubleshoots electrical power support systems such as electrical power plants and power distribution equipment.
  • Maintains, inspects, repairs, diagnoses, and modifies aircraft arrestor barrier units.
  • Maintains records and documents actions.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: Performs work that involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing, and arm movement. Sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas.
  • Must frequently lift and carry items weighing up to about 40 pounds and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers.
  • This position may be designated as Mission-Essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.
  • This is a designated drug tested position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for theWG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
