Help
  • Serves as the Chief of the Army Security Guards (DASG).
  • Performs supervisory and administrative duties of assigned Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) force personnel.
  • Safeguards government personnel, property, equipment, ammunition, and explosives.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set, and adjust short-term and long-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Supervises and schedules guard training to ensure effective planning and appropriate use of Government resources.
  • Utilizes and complies with OSHA safety and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Planning and/or coordinating activities of the guard shift, developing training plans for security guards, performing performance appraisals of subordinates, and/or providing guard force with performance standards to be accomplished. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DK-03 (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent DK-03 (GS-07).

All qualification requirements, including time after competitive appointment, must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

This announcement MAY be used to fill like vacancies for six months after the closing date.

Education
