Duties

Help
  • Supervise, plans, directs, and assigns staff assignments.
  • Develop plans and schedules for subordinate supervisors for the accomplishment of assigned missions.
  • Communicate performance plans to personnel, evaluates performance, counsels personnel, and recommends disciplinary actions.
  • Receive all requests for police support to special events, and in accordance with guidelines.
  • Develop and implements plans to support events.
  • Perform police officer duties when needed to assist in shortages.
  • Oversee personnel access to Fort Irwin by monitoring the identification and authorization of individuals and vehicles entering sensitive and restricted areas.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Successfully graduated from the USACPA or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 (The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program): a. Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • b. Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter. c. Comply with requirements and maintain certification under the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • d. Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related LE work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. In accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R (Condition of Employment) must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as mission essential during Inclement weather conditions or other designed / identified emergency conditions.
  • In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) may be occasionally required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Applying law enforcement procedures to instruct on Federal and local laws, traffic laws, established rules, regulations, and legal authorities; 2) Investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents; and 3) Planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the training program for law enforcement staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
