Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of ACC/A4M Aerospace Support Branch ensuring that the Branch complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represents HQ ACC/A4 and the Combat Air Forces with a variety of installation and functional area organizations Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with Headquarters United States Air Force/Logistics (HAF/A4), Headquarters Air Force Material Command (HQ AFMC/A2/A4/A5), AFMC Air Force Sustainment Center, AFMC Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, other Major Commands (MAJCOMs), other ACC/A4 Divisions and ACC/A1/A3/A589/A6/A7/ACC/A8/A9 Directorates.
  • Manages, evaluates and coordinates ILS plan implementation Manages and monitors multi-platform sustainment and acquisition projects through the implementation of updated/upgraded equipment.
  • As the lead MAJCOM authority/representative serves the Combat Air Forces (CAF) in the development, planning, programming, acquisition, sustainment, and management of life cycle logistics support for aircraft systems, support equipment, and digital technical order hardware.

  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military commercial aircraft.
  • Position Sensitivity Non-critical sensitive. A Secret clearance is required.
  • Overtime work may be required occasionally at the direction of the supervisor or as deemed necessary.
  • This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
  • This is a Centrally Managed Position in the Logistics Management Series Field. PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Logistics Management Series 0346.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge offunctional management principles and basic theories of AGE, fabrication, and accessories aircraft maintenance specialties, as well as organizational functions involved in logistical support. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge functional management principles and basic theories of AGE, fabrication, and accessories aircraft maintenance specialties, as well as organizational functions involved in logistical support.
  2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures.
  3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
  4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
  5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
