Help

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:

- Helps the superintendent and craft supervisors complete work by using software maintenance system.
- Makes sure work order packages are fully completed.
- Enters basic job plans and labor hours for preventive maintenance tasks.
- Uses a government purchase card to make micro-purchases and completes all required (Federal Acquisitions Regulations) FAR paperwork.
- Collects, enters, verifies, processes, and files time and attendance records.
- Gathers data and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on generator run hours, outages, starts/stops, and plant availability.
- Enters and reviews employee training records.

Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated.

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education and/or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as experience that included: maintaining and coordinating schedules for maintenance and/or repair of a major facility; Monitoring and adjusting work orders; and/or collecting and recording data for central files; and/or responding to oral and written requests regarding ; and editing /creating documents for review; experience using an automated maintenance management software program for a power generating plant or equivalent industrial, commercial or military facility. Experience may also include skill in using an automated time keeping system and performing bank/credit card program coordination. You must include hours worked per week in your resume.

Education cannot be used to substitute experience at this grade.

GS-06: you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as experience performing maintenance management work such as assisting with creating work orders and scheduling maintenance and/or constructions projects; assisting with monitoring and adjusting work orders; experience using an automated maintenance management software program. ou must include hours worked per week in your resume.

Education cannot be used to substitute experience at this grade.

GS-05: you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-04 level in federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as computer-related experience including using computer programs to: run queries; devise spreadsheets; Manipulate data into reports and statistics; and/or track work progress of an office. You must include hours worked per week in your resume.

OR

Education 4 years above high school. You must include transcripts if using education to qualify.

OR

A combination of specialized experience listed above and education. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. You must include hours worked per week in your resume and transcripts if using education to qualify.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 10/13/2026.

Education

This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-05 grade level. You must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Physical Demands: The work is primarily office work, although periodic travel to job sites for evaluation of work is required. The employee may also be required to perform these functions in obstructed areas. The job occasionally requires lifting (objects weighing 10-20 pounds) as well as walking, bending, and climbing when entering work-restricted areas. Occasional travel to work and project sites involves driving to a variety of locations and projects and moving around and about water operations and control features such as dams and canals, oftentimes over rough and uneven terrain. Work at project sites may require wearing standard safety equipment and following site specific safety protocols.

Work Environment: Incumbent typically performs work in an office setting, however, periodic visits to various job sites which take place in all weather conditions, and involve some risks from machinery, high noise levels, fumes, moving vehicles, and heavy equipment. Incumbent is required to wear all required safety equipment when in these work areas.
