Duties

If selected for this position you will serve as an Information Technology Specialist in the United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Mississippi, Oxford Office. You will provide a variety of Information Technology services in the following functional areas: Customer Support, Network Systems, and Information Technology Litigation Support Services. Typical duties include:

  • Configuring, installing, and maintaining network systems.
  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining customer hardware and software.
  • Providing customer support services, training, and assistance on a variety of routine applications in response to user requirements.
  • Providing technical support for litigation-related systems, applications, databases, and electronic records used in support of legal proceedings.
  • Performing essential Litigation Support tasks associated with day-to-day operations of utilizing specialty litigation support hardware and software network capability systems.
  • Aiding litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, case preparation, and trial presentation.
  • Implementing programs to ensure users understand and adhere to government standards of systems security policies, procedures, and promote awareness of security issues among management and employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Under the updated Competency-Based Standard for the IT Management Series (2210), applicants must:

1. Meet or exceed all required competencies at the minimum proficiency level for the GS-12, as described below: AND

2. Have the required specialized experience for the GS-12, as described below.

COMPETENCIES- The following competencies are required for the GS-12:

AND

Specialized Experience: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service demonstrating the following:
  • Providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and/or resolving recurring software/hardware problems;
  • Installing and/or configuring new or modified hardware and operating systems and software;
  • Monitoring network capacity and performance;
  • Assisting with developing, planning, and/or coordinating litigation support services;
  • Providing user training and/or assistance on a variety of programs and applications.

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
