Duties

Help
  • You will troubleshoot facility equipment and system problems, develop and evaluate data and make recommendations and/or initiate corrective actions based on findings.
  • You will evaluate problems that involve electrical systems, electronic power systems and general overall electrical systems.
  • You will assemble and review drawings, specifications, manufacturer's changes and technical publications.
  • You will maintain current technical records of Electrical/Electro-Mechanical equipment and related components.
  • You will develop, from draft, completion performance of work statements, government cost estimates, equipment acceptance and test criteria, project time lines for facilities and equipment repairs, replacements, or upgrades.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:

-Experience producing conventional drawings by using computer-aided drafting and imaging equipment.
-Experience utilizing electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment, such as air conditioning plants, electrical switch gear, power generators or similar related equipment.
-Experience assembling and analyzing data for written or oral reports for formal and informal presentations.
-Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and gauges, meters, records, and computer software analyzers to analyze problems and propose solutions.

Education

Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position for the GG-11 position:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
or
LL.M., if related

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements for the position.

The Cyber Interagency Transfer Authority (CITA) permits movement of CES employees appointed under Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and excepted service employees appointed under Schedule A, Section 213.3106(b)(11) of Title 5 CFR, info cyber workforce positions in the competitive service and movement of competitive service employees into DoD Cyber Workforce positions within the Military Departments and Defense Agencies.

In accordance with DoDI 1400.25, Volume 3005, Section 3.15, all employees newly appointed to a CES position will serve a 3-year probationary period. Permanent and term employees currently serving in a probationary period in the competitive service or a probationary or trial period in the excepted service will complete the period as prescribed in their original conditions of employment in the new CES position if they transfer without a break in service or are promoted, demoted, or reassigned to a CES position.

Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.

This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position.
