Help

  • Performs computations, calculate billings, and analyze billing documents for accuracy.
  • Computes and enter data adjustments to employee Federal, State, Local, and Social Security Taxes based on billing, end of tax year, and employee repayment of debt.
  • Calculates, prepare, validate, and transmit reports of billing and collection activity to clients and prepare and transmit bill transfer packages for employees who separate or retire.
  • Performs initial basic research to aid analysis of transactions to determine cause of erroneous billing.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation through Continuous Vetting throughout the duration of employment. Qualifications

At the GS-05 level,you must meet one of the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience with data entry in an automated data processing sub-system which interfaces with a larger computer system; financial clerical duties (examples: verifying transaction amounts and resolving discrepancies in financial records); and answering phone calls or providing customer service in an office or retail setting. OR
B. Have completed 4-years of education above high school level (i.e. 120 semester hours) or have a bachelor's degree. (Note: Applicants who select this response must provide transcripts as verification of their education.) OR
C. Have a combination of experience and education as defined above which equals at least 100%. (e.g. 6 months of experience and 3 years of education above the high school level). (Note: Applicants who select this response must provide transcripts as verification of their education.)

At the GS-06level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience performing a variety of billing and collection duties; processing, reviewing, and auditing payroll and payroll related debts; reviewing, updating, or reconciling debt reports; and answering phone calls or providing customer service in an office or retail setting.

At the GS-07level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience performing a variety of billing and collection duties; processing, reviewing, and auditing payroll and payroll related debts, which includes, establishing collections, negotiating repayment schedules; reviewing and researching debt transactions in order to update or reconcile discrepancies; reviewing outstanding bill records and reconciling differences and omissions; and answering phone calls or providing customer service in an office or retail setting.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

Advancement to positions up to GS-7: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to the GS-7 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
